Vaser Liposuction

Liposuction has come a long way since its inception in the late 1970s. Today, there are better options.

Patients seeking an elegant approach—with rapid healing as an added bonus—would be wise to consider VASER Liposuction by Dr. Joshua Korman, M.D. What distinguishes VASER Lipo from other techniques is the addition of sonic resonant sound energy to the process. The sound vibrations safely unmoor fat globules from soft sinews while arousing healthy collagen production in the skin. VASER has transformed liposuction from an invasive operation to an outpatient procedure of astounding precision

Dr. Korman’s Bay Area offices serve the people of San Jose, Carmel-by-the-Sea and Mountain View. Both a teacher and an innovator, he is a pillar of the Northern California community. Dr. Korman is known by his Stanford students and admiring colleagues as a leader in the field who helped found his venture-funded enterprise, Reconstructive Technologies, among many other accomplishments.

Prospective patients who are interested in determining their candidacy for VASER Liposuction are encouraged to contact Dr. Korman and schedule a consultation.

About

VASER stands for “Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance” and it represents a remarkable advancement in body contouring technology. Its delicate application of sound energy to bundles of body fat allows for once unimaged levels of exactitude.

The procedure is often interchangeably referred to as “liposculpture” in acknowledgment of the chiseled precision of its results.

VASER is body sculpting in the truest sense as it can aptly shape areas that were once off-limits to the clumsy cannulas of first-gen lipo. VASER’s good vibrations lightly roil fat cells lose from their tissue tethers before they are artistically aspirated on gentle jets of reverse pressure. This allows Dr. Korman to practice a far finer level of discernment while he strategically decides which lipids must go and which may stay.[1]

He shapes his patients’ bodies in accordance with their deepest desires and his own commitment to the highest aesthetic standards

Fly In for Surgery

Imagine a life-changing visit to Mountain View, California in the heart of Silicon Valley. Out-of-town patients might exercise the option to fly in for surgery. Dr. Korman provides complimentary consultations remotely via Skype. We are happy to arrange local transportation and accommodations.

Procedure

Dr. Korman initiates VASER Liposuction with the administration of anesthesia at his outpatient facilities. Per the patient’s wishes and his own medical judgment, it may be a general or a local anesthetic.

After making careful incisions to the target area, Dr. Korman injects a tumescent saline solution that numbs and shrinks the blood vessels. The saline solution fills the area to ease the break-up of fatty tissues.

Dr. Korman will then use a small cannula that transmits sound energy to emulsify stubborn fat for easy aspiration. This leaves the important sinews intact and minimizes body trauma. The cannula removes liquid lipids via soft suction.

The incredible technology provides patients with outstanding and long-lasting results.

Benefits of VASER Liposculpture

  • Less bruising and swelling than traditional lipo
  • Sound energy emulsifies fat and leaves tender tissues intact
  • Patients report experiencing less pain
  • Downtime is less than a week

Recovery From VASER Liposculpture

The rapid recovery process provides patients with visible results immediately after their VASER treatment. However, most people do not experience the full flowering of their results until 3 to 4 months following the treatment.

Expect to take 4 to 7 days from work.

We advise patients to wear a compression garment for 6 weeks to encourage healthy healing. Please be sure to keep all follow-up appointments so that Dr. Korman can safely monitor your progress and avoid unforeseen complications.

FAQ

What is the difference between VASER Lipo and liposuction?

VASER Lipo represents an improvement on traditional liposuction. While both operate on the same principle—that is, removing body fat by way of a cannula tube through the application of gentle suction—VASER goes a step further to increase the safety and enhance the effectiveness of the procedure. VASER stands for “Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance,” which describes its unique mechanics. At the point of insertion, the VASER cannula massages fat pockets with mellow vibrations of pure sound energy, emulsifying fat into an easily aspirated immiscible gel. The added step greatly decreases the invasiveness and enhances the effectiveness of liposuction surgery.

Can VASER Lipo tighten skin?

To a limited degree, yes. The VASER procedure is set apart from most other means of liposuction by its application of resonant sound energy that radiates from its cannula. These same sound waves have an effect on the skin by stimulating collagen production in the treatment area. Collagen is an elastic protein that aids in healing and grants skin a springy responsiveness reminiscent of youth. It is important to note that VASER is not a skin-tightening procedure per se. Patients seeking tighter skin would do well to investigate various collagen-enhancing MedSpa Procedures, or else consider Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), a procedure intended to eliminate laxity.

How much weight can you lose with VASER Liposuction?

VASER is not a weight loss procedure. Its aim is to remove stubborn pockets of fat from intractable areas otherwise unaffected by mindful dieting and vigorous exercise. No more than 4% of your body weight may be removed in a single liposculpture session. This amounts to about 3 liters of fat. As a body contouring procedure, it is important to think more in terms of shape, rather than volume, when pondering VASER’s potential for improvement.

Does fat come back after Vaser Lipo?

Yes. Weight, girth and even new fat cells may appear if the patient does not maintain their results. Liposculpture is not a weight loss procedure. Failure to sustain a healthy post-op lifestyle will cause VASER’s shapely outcomes to soon fade while waistlines balloon. Liposuction removes fat cells from specific target areas, but the surgery does not nullify a body’s ability to gain weight from unhealthy overeating. However, lipo may alter one’s patterns of weight gain, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons: “liposuction patients who gain considerable post-procedure weight tend to still look better than if they did not undergo liposuction.”[2]

Is VASER Liposuction safe?

VASER Liposuction is far less invasive and not nearly as harsh on the body as traditional liposuction. However, as with any surgery, it is not without attendant risk. There may be some scarring and unwanted results if the procedure is performed hastily by an untrained, inexperienced doctor. A skilled surgeon must take all necessary precautions to ensure that infection does not occur. VASER Lipo demands great care so as to avoid internal bleeding. These are slight risks that are worth considering when deciding on a doctor. Search for a surgeon that is celebrated in the field and a master of the craft. The best plastic surgeons are the ones who train other plastic surgeons.
