About Liposuction

Liposuction is a body contouring technique that reduces subcutaneous fat stores. Subcutaneous fat is just below the skin and is a difficult fat to diminish. Liposuction will reduce that fat and help accentuate the natural shape of your arms. This form of fat reduction and body sculpting is not meant for weight loss. Liposuction is an excellent method of slimming down and getting rid of frustrating fat stores. We offer three types of Liposuction:

Suction-Assisted Liposuction

SAL, or suction-assisted lipo, is the traditional approach to liposuction. This technique was developed decades ago and has had years to be perfected. This technique implements a thin cannula to be inserted through the skin and gently moved back and forth to break up fat cells and suction them from the treatment area.

Ultrasonic Liposuction

We use VASER Hi-Def liposuction to emulsify fat cells before removing them. Ultrasound probes are used to target fat deposits and liquify them. This technique allows for a less invasive procedure that is quick and efficient.

Laser Liposuction

SmartLipo is a form of laser lipo surgery that allows our staff to emulsify fat cells before removing them. An added benefit of SmartLipo is that it strengthens and boosts collagen levels in the skin.

Dr. Korman can combine the above-listed liposuction techniques with tumescent liposuction. Tumescent liposuction is a technique that administers a large amount of saline solution into the treatment area before surgery. This fluid swells the area and causes fat tissue to be more accessible. Tumescent fluid often speeds up the surgery and recovery.

Suction-assisted lipo, SmartLipo, and VASER Hi-Def can be used all over the body. Common liposuction treatment areas include the thighs, abdomen, flanks, back, and arms. Personal Consultation

In a private meeting with Dr. Korman, you will have the opportunity to learn more about liposuction, his surgical experience and how lipo surgery will rejuvenate your arms. Together, you may look through liposuction before and after photos to get a good understanding of how your arms can be improved. Preparation

Before your appointment, you will need to pick-up prescriptions and arrange for rides to and from the surgery. Having a friend around is very helpful in the first few days of recovery as you adjust to movement.

Dr. Korman will provide you with detailed instructions on how to have healthy surgery and recovery.

Procedure

When you arrive at your appointment, your arms will be cleaned and marked for surgery. Anesthesia will be administered and the surgery will begin when you are comfortable. Small incisions will be made along the arms so that Dr. Korman can access the fatty tissue. Your preferred method of liposuction will be implemented and Dr. Korman will artfully sculpt your arms. Once the desired appearance is achieved, incisions will be closed and bandaged. The surgery will take one to two hours.

Recovery

After your procedure, you will get to go home to begin your recovery. Someone will need to drive you home as your arms will be stiff and sensitive. Do not lift your arms above your shoulders until your incisions have healed. A compression garment will need to be worn for a few weeks to help your arms adjust to their new contour. The compression garment will also keep swelling down. Any discomfort can be controlled with pain medication.

A follow-up appointment with Dr. Korman will allow him to ensure you are recovering well and to answer your new questions.

What is the recovery time for arm liposuction?

Most patients require a few days of downtime before they feel comfortable getting back to work. Patients with a sedentary job are often able to get back to work after about three days. Individuals with a physically demanding job will need to wait a week or two before returning to work.

Does arm liposuction hurt?

No. Arm liposuction is performed with anesthesia, allowing you to remain comfortable and relaxed through surgery. During your initial recovery, your arms will be sore and sensitive. Pain medication will keep any discomfort under control. If you experience any prolonged pain, please contact our office so we can assist you.

Does arm liposuction leave scars?
