About Renuvion in the Bay Area

Loose skin is one of the unavoidable consequences of life. As we age, our skin naturally loses elasticity. Life events can also contribute to excess skin. Other issues that can be treated with Renuvion include leathery or rough skin, sunspots and age spots, and some fine lines and wrinkles. The tautness and shine of youthful skin result from collagen and elastin. Elastin and collagen are the two important proteins that form the underlying molecular structure that supports healthy skin. Renuvion helps rebuild this crucial protein network that supplies support and maintenance for healthy skin.

How Renuvion Works

Renuvion is U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved for the coagulation of soft tissue. Renuvion uses a proprietary formula to deliver thermal energy beneath the surface layer of the skin. By incorporating helium into radiofrequency treatments, Renuvion applies RF energy to the subcutaneous layer of the skin. Energy applied to the subcutaneous layers causes gentle contractions.[1][2]  The process refreshes the outer layer of skin and remodels the underlying layers of skin. The skin tightening benefits are immediately noticeable in the days following treatment and continues to improve for up to a year following treatment.[3]

Benefits

  • Effective skin tightening
  • Elastin and collagen rebuilding
  • Minimal invasiveness
  • No extended downtime
  • No surgical scars
  • Minimal discomfort

Preparation

After your consultation, Dr. Korman will provide you with instructions on what you should do to prepare for Renuvion treatments. Make sure to diligently follow all these personalized directions. Altering or stopping some medications may be recommended. In general, it’s advisable to stop smoking entirely. Smoking creates numerous health risks that should be avoided. On the day of the procedure, you will arrive at the medical center about 45 minutes early. This allows us time to administer the premedication and allow oral sedatives to take effect.

Procedure

When you come in for Renuvion treatment, you’ll be ushered into a comfortable room. The procedure typically takes about an hour to perform. Then, you’ll be placed under the appropriate anesthesia depending on your personalized treatment plan.

During the procedure, Dr. Korman will make a small incision and then use Renuvion’s specially designed cannula to treat the targeted area. The device will use radiofrequency energy to ionize the helium gas and transform it into a cool, reactive plasma.[4] The low temperature plasma stimulates the deeper layers of the skin to jump start collagen and elastin remodeling. The helium addition to the device provides cooling and keeps any discomfort to an absolute minimum. By strengthening the skin’s support network, Renuvion leverages our body’s healing ability to provide a natural form of skin tightening. Since it targets the subcutaneous layer under the surface, Renuvion can achieve greater results than what can be achieved through only surface-level treatments with no observed complications.[5]

Recovery

Recovery from Renuvion/J-Plasty is straightforward. You may experience minor redness and swelling for up to 2 months following your procedure. The discomfort you experience will be minimal and easily remedied with over-the-counter medication such as Tylenol. The minuscule incisions won’t leave any scars.

If you undergo Renuvion treatments for facial resurfacing, you may need a little more time to recover. Some patients like to take 1-2 weeks off from work to recuperate in the comfort of their homes. Make sure to take any topical creams or lotion Dr. Korman recommends to facilitate a healthy recovery.

Results

Renuvion effectively tightens the skin and promotes both collagen growth and the remodeling of the elastin structure. Due to its unique formula, Renuvion has proven to be one of the most effective techniques to tighten the skin and initiate the body’s natural regenerative processes. The benefits from Renuvion can gradually improve the condition of your skin for up to a year.

Complementary Procedures

While Renuvion often gets billed as a non-surgical “lift”, the procedure can also be used to complement surgical procedures for comprehensive body contouring

Liposuction

Some procedures in particular like liposuction, only focus on fat removal. Renuvion can provide the skin tightening aspect that nicely complements liposuction or its variations such as VASER liposuction or SmartLipo.

CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting has emerged as one of the hottest non-surgical treatments. It’s all over social media digitally and on billboards physically. But like liposuction, CoolSculpting is a procedure specially designed to remove adipose (fat) tissue. It doesn’t focus on skin tightening. This makes Renuvion a perfect complement for CoolSculpting-based body contouring.

How Much Does Renuvion/J-Plasma Cost in San Jose?

There will be no hidden costs and any pricing provided will be clear and transparent. Financing options are also available if you wish to open a payment plan.
