About CoolSculpting in Northern California
CoolSculpting is a non-invasive procedure that addresses the stubborn fat deposits just under the skin. These unsightly pockets of fat can keep individuals from looking their best. CoolSculpting technology delivers targeted low temperatures to the areas where pinchable fat stores may be visible. The cold temperatures work to destroy the fat cells which are then flushed from the body, naturally.
Treating the bulges on the back with CoolSculpting can reduce fat in the area by up to 25% after each session. It is recommended that patients undergo two to three CoolSculpting treatments on the target areas to see their ideal results!

CoolSculpting does not require any preparation! It is a non-invasive procedure, so patients will simply show up, relax, and let the CoolSculpting technology do the work, reducing unwanted fat on the back.
When patients arrive at their CoolSculpting treatment, they will be led to our state-of-the-art treatment room. The patient will need to remove or rearrange their shirt so the CoolSculpting applicator can be securely attached to the skin. Once the patient is directed to lie on our comfortable treatment table, and the session will begin.
The skin will be marked indicating the areas for treatment. Once the skin is cleansed, a gel pad will be applied to the areas. When the appropriate CoolSculpting applicator is precisely placed, patients describe feeling a gentle suction and cooling sensation until the area becomes numb.
Feel free to relax comfortably as the CoolSculpting machine freezes away fat bulges! At the end of the session, the patient’s back will be gently massaged to break up the fat and make it easier for processing by the body.

At Dr. Korman’s renowned plastic surgery practice, we have the ability to treat multiple areas with CoolSculpting at one time! What does this mean for our patients? It means that they can benefit from multiple treatments during a single CoolSculpting session. If the patient doesn’t need full back treatment, we can also target banana rolls, thighs, or flanks simultaneously, thus negating the need for future follow-up appointments.
After a CoolSculpting appointment for the back, patients will be able to resume their plans for the day! There is little to no downtime with CoolSculpting. The skin may be red and swollen at the treatment site. Patients may experience some mild discomfort after treatment as feeling returns to their skin. There may be sensations of tingling, stinging, tenderness, cramping, aching, itching, or skin sensitivity on the back. These are common reactions and should subside in the hours after the session.
After just one CoolSculpting session, the body will work to flush away up to 25% of the treated fat! Some may see improvement in the following weeks. If a treatment plan indicates multiple sessions to achieve optimal results, patients should be sure to keep their appointments!
Patients who have undergone a CoolSculpting regimen for their back will begin to notice slimmer contours in as little as 1-3 months after their last session! Depending on the extent of the fat reduction, final results may be apparent after 6 months, post-procedure.

By early adolescence, the number of fat cells is set. When people age, this number of fat cells does not fluctuate much. The fat cells swell when an individual gains weight. Conversely, when people shed pounds, the fat cells shrink. With CoolSculpting, we use cryolipolysis on targeted fat cells. CoolSculpting the back freezes unwanted fat cells and they go through cell death. These destroyed cells are removed from the body by the lymphatic system as waste. Once they are gone, they are gone for good!
CoolSculpting is not a weight-loss procedure. CoolSculpting is a body sculpting method that helps tone and refine an individual’s body. Qualified candidates for the procedure are at or near their ideal body weight. If a patient wants to lose weight before opting for CoolSculpting, then they should ask Dr. Korman about a comprehensive weight-loss program.
Gaining weight depends on lifestyle choices. Diet, exercise, and a healthy sleep schedule are key ingredients to maintaining a healthy body weight. If the patient has had CoolSculpting and they feel they need help losing or maintaining weight, then contact Dr. Korman and ask about a complete lifestyle plan to help lose weight and keep the pounds off.
