EMSCULPT for Core Strength

EMSCULPT Sunnyvale

EMSCULPT is a non-invasive body conditioning procedure that uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) field technology to tone and strengthen core muscles. The core is a vital collection of muscles that encapsulate the midsection and lower back. Keeping this group of muscles healthy and strong is important for living your best, most active life. But with age, as with every other muscle in our body, our core weakens in strength, mobility, and appearance. To build a stronger, more robust core, Dr. Joshua Korman is proud to introduce EMSCULPT to his Central Californian clientele.

If you are interested in learning more about how EMSCULPT can give you a better-defined and toned abdomen, please don’t hesitate to schedule a personal consultation at one of our three offices. To reach us directly, please call:

About Our Core

Whether to obtain an envious six-pack, regain strength after pregnancy, or improve muscular function, having well-rounded core muscles is essential for a happy, healthy lifestyle. The core is comprised of three muscle groups: the transverse abdominus, the internal and external obliques, and the rectus abdominus.[1] The numerous individual muscles in these three groups act in unison to provide local support and balance to the lower back. Before other parts of the body move, the core stabilizes to provide sturdy support for the spine, thus acting as the foundation for the entire body.[2] So, it’s safe to say these muscles are needed for just about every daily activity. The best way to train them is to focus on core endurance.[3] By keeping these muscles in prolonged, intense contractions, deep muscle fibers acclimate to the pressure. The pressure from the contractions causes muscle fibers to rip and repair, thickening them in the process. Thicker fibers mean newly acquired strength in that muscle – and a more noticeable appearance.

Now, while this idea may seem simple in theory, many of our clients know how difficult core exercises can be. For those who frequent the gym or have done sessions with a personal trainer, you might know (even dread) core exercises. From the classic sit-up to the soul-crushing plank, these exercises are ideal for people who already have a well-established core. Many beginners can only do a couple of repetitions before succumbing to fatigue. So, the idea of focusing on endurance and prolonging the exercise might seem too insurmountable to many. But, rather than forgo your goals out of dismay, consider a new, advanced alternative to basic core exercises. An alternative that strengthens and tones in only 30 minutes. This alternative is called EMSCULPT.

HIFEM Technology

EMSCULPT is a non-invasive, wearable device that attaches to your midsection. Inside the EMSCULPT applicator is a circular coil that receives electrical currents to induce rapidly changing magnetic waves. These rapidly changing waves operate at an extremely low (3-5 kHz) frequency, contracting the muscle fibers while not absorbing into the muscle.[4] So, patients only feel a continual vibration from the device. In a matter of 30 minutes, the EMSCULPT device triggers approximately 20,000 contractions. One of these contractions equals one repetition of your favorite core exercise. Close your eyes and imagine doing one exercise 20,000 times in 30 minutes. Even for Olympic athletes, this seems widely out of reach. But with EMSCULPT, it is as simple as lying down and letting the HIFEM technology gently fortify your core muscles.

If you want to see how easily EMSCULPT can strengthen your core, please schedule a personal consultation at one of our three locations.

Candidates

Many of our patients already lead healthy, active lives. Most fall into three categories: those who want noticeable abdominals, new mothers looking to regain their core, and those who have a tight schedule.

Those Who Want Tone

When muscles contract, the individual fibers rip, triggering the body’s healing response. Over the next couple of days, the body sends continual support in the form of restorative properties to reinvigorate the muscles. To energize this response, the body burns neighboring fatty tissue. So, patients of EMSCULPT see not only increased muscle definition but also fat loss. Research into the benefits of EMSCULPT found that the circumference of patients’ waists was reduced by 1 ½ inches.[4] Further research found that two weeks after the EMSCULPT session, the targeted muscles had increased 20%.[5] So, for those looking for simultaneous fat loss and muscle definition, EMSCULPT is the perfect all-in-one approach.

New Mothers

While new mothers enjoy the blossoming benefits of motherhood, their core might be slow to bounce back. For some, it may take a couple of weeks and months to regain strength in their core. For others, however, their core never fully regains its pre-baby strength or appearance. This is because pregnancy can be tough on the core muscles. As the fetus grows, the area continuously expands, putting internal pressure on the abdomen, oftentimes causing the two abdominal walls to separate entirely. This condition can result in weakened muscles and pelvic floor disorders like incontinence. While exercise can serve as a remedy, it can be too arduous for new mothers who’d rather spend time with their baby than at a gym. Because of its easy application and effective results, EMSCULPT is perfect for new mothers in need of a restored core.

Those With A Busy Schedule

Thirty minutes at a gym may not feel like enough time for an effective workout, let alone for 20,000 reps. But with EMSCULPT, patients see just that! EMSCULPT is perfect for those with a busy life who don’t have time for daily trips to the gym. After only three EMSCULPT sessions, patients see a noticeable improvement in the definition and strength of their abdomen.

Personal Consultation

As a plastic surgeon with over 20 years of board-certified experience, Dr. Joshua Korman has the skills and expertise necessary to help you achieve your desired physique. He is an expert in invasive and non-invasive body contouring procedures and passes this knowledge on to his Stanford plastic surgery residents. With multiple awards, publications, and patents in the world of plastic surgery, Dr. Korman is rightfully one of the most sought-after surgeons on the West Coast.

Either Dr. Korman or a trained aesthetic nurse will meet with you to discuss your ideal aesthetic goals. We will explain how EMSCULPT works and discern if it is the best approach. While EMSCULPT patients do see a reduction in fatty tissue, please note EMSCULPT is not a weight-loss surgery, and only patients at a healthy, stable weight will be approved. Many of our EMSCULPT patients already lead a healthy, active lifestyle and see EMSCULPT is the perfect addition to their schedule. With all this in mind, we will tell you how best to prepare and configure your personalized treatment plan. Finally, we will set a time and date for your first session with us.

Procedure

To begin your EMSCULPT session, we will have you lie down on our treatment chair and apply the EMSCULPT device to your abdomen. The device will contract the muscles rapidly. Since the HIFEM frequency is low, you won’t feel any pain, discomfort, or overheating effect. The feeling is similar to the mild “burn” you feel during a core exercise. If you experience too much of this sensation, we can turn down the power for a gentler vibration. After 30 minutes (and 20,000 contractions), you will be free to jump back into your daily routine without any side effects of this procedure holding you back.

Another Simple, Non-Invasive Procedure

EMSCULPT is popular for those looking to avoid surgery or invasive procedures. If this sounds like you, CoolSculpting might also be right for you. CoolSculpting is a popular body contouring procedure that plunges fat cells into freezing temperatures. When exposed to such low temperatures, fat cells rupture and dissipate through the body’s natural excretion system. This process results in skinnier contours in only a matter of weeks. If you would like to learn more about how CoolSculpting can complement your EMSCULPT experience, schedule a personal consultation today!

Cost

EMSCULPT typically requires multiple sessions (2-3) to see your desired results. Because of this, the price of your EMSCULPT treatment plan will vary from others. We will determine your unique price during your consultation.
