Liposuction in San Jose, CA

Korman Plastic Surgery offers Liposuction to the residents of San Jose, CA. Liposuction is a procedure that is used to remove fat from areas that do not benefit from diet and exercise. The most common areas for Liposuction include the hips, abdomen, thighs and buttocks. Liposuction is most beneficial to patients who are average or slightly above-average weight; have firm skin with good elasticity and are in good general health. Liposuction does not remove cellulite.

What happens during the Liposuction procedure?

Before the procedure, Dr. Korman meets with the patient to develop an individual treatment plan. The extent of the Liposuction procedure determines if Dr. Korman performs the Liposuction on an outpatient basis in his office, or in a hospital setting.

Dr. Korman will administer an anesthetic, and the type of anesthesia depends on the extent of the Liposuction procedure. Less extensive Liposuction typically requires a local anesthesia, and Dr. Korman may administer a general anesthesia for more extensive liposuction procedures.

Tiny incisions are made in the areas to be treated. A small stainless steel device is inserted into the incisions between the skin and muscle. Suction or a syringe is used to remove the excess fat from the area.

When can normal activities resume after the procedure?

Typically, patients are able to resume light activity within two to three days. Generally, patients are able to resume normal activities after two weeks.

Is there any pain after the Liposuction procedure?

Patients experience bruising, swelling and soreness for approximately three weeks after the procedure. A compressive garment may be required for one to two months to control the swelling.
