Dr. Korman received both his bachelor’s degree and his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College at Cornell University. Signifying his lasting commitment to professionalism, leadership, scholarship, research and community service, he graduated Alpha Omega Alpha, before embarking on a residency program at Stanford, where he has now taught for over 26 years. A New Generation of Plastic Surgeons

The University of Stanford’s Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery program was established in 1965, and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2015. Dr. Korman stands out among a multitude of highly qualified academics who specialize in teaching the art of plastic and reconstructive surgery to the next generation of medical professionals. There are two main routes into the profession in the United States:

Independent Plastic Surgery Programs

  • Formal training in a surgical specialty required (For example, general surgery, ENT, neurosurgery)
  • Subsequent 3 years of training in plastic surgery
  • Admissibility to ABPS exams

Integrated Programs

  • 6 years total duration
  • Dictated by plastic surgery program directors
  • Admissibility to ABPS exams
