What is the Difference Between Emsculpt vs. CoolSculpting?

Korman Plastic Surgery is pleased to offer both surgical and non-surgical enhancement to improve the appearance of the body. Both Emsclupt and CoolSculpting are two gentle body contouring treatments that can take your appearance and confidence to new heights.

What is Emsculpt?

Emsculpt is an FDA-approved body contouring procedure that burns stubborn body fat and while simultaneously sculpting and toning your musculature. It uses a high-intensity focused electromagnetic technology (HIFEM) to target certain areas of the body and causes contractions in the muscles. As a result, Emscupt can strengthen and improve the muscle tone you may already have. It can be used to treat the abdominals, buttocks, arms, calves, and thighs. Thanks to its minimally invasive procedure, there is no need for length recovery or preparation.

What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting rids the body of pesky fat deposits by exposing them to extremely low temperatures, which causes the fat cells to die. It isn’t surgery nor does it use needles. It is a highly effective procedure that delivers controlled cooling in targeted areas with unwanted fat deposits. Most patients receiving CoolSculpting may require additional treatments for optimal results. This technology uses an external applicator that attaches onto the treatment area to deliver its fat-freezing effects.

What areas can be treated with an Emscult?

An Emsculpt treatment allows you to target select areas in the upper and lower body including:

  • Buttocks
  • Abdomen
  • Arms
  • Inner and Outer Thigh
  • Calves

What areas can be treated with CoolSculpting?

Below are a few areas CoolSculpting can treat:

  • Upper and lower abdomen
  • Inner and outer thighs
  • Flanks (or love handles)
  • Arms
  • Chin area
  • Underneath the buttocks

A Play-By-Play Glimpse of Your Treatment

Your exact treatment plan will depend on the treatment that best serves your needs. Regardless of the procedure, you’ll come out looking better than ever before. Here is what your path may look like with either treatment:

Emsculpt

An Emsculpt session takes less than an hour to complete. Dr. Korman will place the Emsculpt applicator on your treatment area. The applicator goes to work and emits High-Intensity Focused ElectroMagnetic fields onto the targeted muscle group. The HIFEM technology triggers ultra-fast, supramaximal muscle contractions. You can feel your muscles moving, but no discomfort. The HIFEM will also trigger the breakdown of fatty tissues at high speed. When your treatment is complete your body will have done the equivalent of 20,000 crunches! Your regimen of Emsculpt consists of four Emsculpt sessions, spaced roughly three days apart.

CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting is also a short process. First, we’ll place a gel pad and applicator on your body to target fat cells. The applicator will be attached to the targeted areas where it will emit a cooling sensation. You feel a slight tingling or suction sensation when the treatment starts but the overall process involves minimal discomfort. One of Dr. Korman’s expert technicians will then massage the treated areas following treatment to break up any frozen deep tissue and ensure smooth contours. This will also help you to eliminate the destroyed fat cells. Over the course of just one session, the CoolSculpting this treatment can destroy around 20% to 25% of existing fat cells.

Recovery and Results

Patients love the ease of these procedures. Neither requires a lengthy recovery period. Many patients can resume their normal activities after they leave our offices. Though you may feel a little sore and tender, you can drive home, work, and even exercise. These side effects should dissipate in about 2-3 weeks.

When that happens, you can look forward to a beach body that is toned, contoured, and natural-looking. Patients go on to enjoy the results from an Emsculpt for at least six months. The same can be said for CoolSculpting patients as well. Additional treatments may be needed to achieve optimal results in certain areas.
